COVID-19 & The Hamden Police Department - Temporary Changes:
The front lobby of Police Headquarters and the Records Division will be closed
to the general public. Click here for other changes and more details.
The Hamden Police Department is committed to providing the public with information pertaining to the safety of child passengers in motor vehicles.
Our Certified Child Safety Seat Technicians can demonstrate and explain to caregivers regarding the proper selection, installation and use of car seats, booster seats and use of seatbelts.
Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old. Deaths and injuries can often be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters and seat belts. According to Connecticut State Law, all children are required to ride in an approved child safety seat until they are 7 years old and 60 lbs. The Hamden Police Department reminds all citizens that properly restraining their children while riding in vehicles is an everyday, year-round responsibility.
Our officers are available on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 5pm-8pm at the Hamden Police Department.
