On March 28th at approximately 6:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the intersection of Goodrich Street and Shelton Avenue on the report of a motor vehicle accident, “with a possible ejection of a toddler.”

Investigation revealed that a vehicle, which was operated by Shayne Miller, was traveling westbound on Goodrich Street at a high rate of speed. Miller proceeded through a red control signal, striking a vehicle that was traveling northbound of Shelton Avenue. The vehicle traveling on Shelton Avenue contained several passengers, including a toddler that was ejected. The passengers in the vehicle that was struck by Miller were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.

Miller, 32, of 151 Curtis Drive, New Haven was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and other motor vehicle related charges. He is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on April 11th.

Officer Stephen DeGrand of the Hamden Police Department Traffic Division is conducting the investigation.
