On June 6, 2022, the Hamden Police Department arrested Jenigh Ward, age 18, of Hamden, Ct., on criminal charges that include Murder relating to the homicide of 15 year old Elijah Gomez near the Farmington Canal Trail and Treadwell Street on May 9th, 2022.
Ward was assigned a court date of 06-13-22 at Meriden Superior Court and held on court set bond of $1,000,000.00.

Detective Andrew Lipford, along with members of the Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Unit, conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the New Haven Police Shooting Task Force, FBI - New Haven Field Office, U.S. Marshal’s Office – District of Ct – Violent Fugitive Task Force, New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, State of Connecticut Division of Scientific Services, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, for the significant support and assistance that was provided to us during this investigation.
