On March 13, 2022 at approximately 3:30 PM, Hamden Police Officers responded to
the area of Dixwell Avenue near North Street on a reported pedestrian struck by a motor
vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later
died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as Raekwon McLean, age 24, of
New Haven.
The intersection was closed for approximately 8 hours while police investigated the
scene. The driver of the vehicle has been identified and is cooperating with the ongoing
investigation.
