On February 18th at approximately 5:45p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Morse Street and Newhall Street on the report of “shots fired.”

Investigation revealed that several females were shopping at a business, located at 1245 Dixwell Avenue. One of the females was engaged in a verbal altercation, with an individual who was later identified as Kenneth Reddick. Reddick followed the females as they exited the store. 

The females entered a motor vehicle and proceeded towards Dixwell Avenue. Reddick subsequently followed them in his sport utility vehicle. According to the female victims, Reddick “pulled alongside their vehicle” while they were traveling on Newhall Street. . Reddick then fired several shots at them. There were no reported injuries. 

On February 28th, Reddick arrived at Hamden Police Headquarters to speak with Detectives about the shooting. Moments later, Detectives Joseph Liguori and Brian Stewart observed Reddick’s vehicle parked in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Washington Avenue. Upon approaching the vehicle, they smelled burning marijuana emanating from inside. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a stolen 9mm handgun. The driver of Reddick’s vehicle, Patrick Jones was promptly arrested and transported to police headquarters. 

Hamden Police arrested Kenneth Reddick, 22, of 99 Edgewood Avenue, Apartment 20, New Haven. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Theft of a Firearm and Carrying a Pistol without a Permit. Reddick, who was detained on a $100,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on March 14th.

Shortly thereafter, Reddick was further charged for the February 18th shooting. Reddick was charged with Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Risk of Injury to a Child and Threatening in the 1st Degree. Reddick was detained on an additional $150,000.00 court ordered bond.

Patrick Jones, 23, of 46 Emerson Street, New Haven was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Theft of a Firearm and Carrying a Pistol without a Permit. He was released after posting a $5,000.00 bond. Jones is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on March 14th.
