On February 18th at approximately 4:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of State Street and Farm Road on the report of threatening.

Investigation revealed that a 43 year-old Plainville resident was traveling northbound on State Street. She advised an officer that she attempted to pass a vehicle that was making a right turn. The vehicle subsequently “sped off” and then completed a U-turn. The operator of the vehicle, who was later identified as Jerome Rumley, then approached her vehicle. Rumley pointed a “silver gun” at her. He then made another U-turn and fled northbound on State Street.

Moments later, Officer Christina Giori located Rumley, who was exiting a North Haven Package Store. A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of a “.177 caliber steel ball airsoft revolver.” There were 3 occupants inside of Rumley’s vehicle, including a 2 year-old and a 7 year-old. Rumley was arrested and transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Hamden Police arrested Jerome Rumley, 25, of 3250 East Main Street, Apartment 31, Waterbury. He was charged with Illegal Use of a Facsimile Firearm, 2 counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. Rumley, who was detained on a $500.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on March 5th.
