On June 9, 2021, at approximately 11:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Arch Street and Dix Street on the report of a “male shooting at a female.” Moments later officers arrived, but could not locate a victim.
Shortly thereafter, Yale-New Haven Hospital personnel contacted Hamden Police and reported that a gunshot victim had arrived at the hospital. Officers learned that the victim, a 21 year-old Naugatuck resident, was confronted on Dix Street, by a male that she was familiar with. They were engaged in a verbal altercation. As she attempted to run away from him, he shot her in her breast. She was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital by a friend. Police are actively searching for the person responsible.
