On January 29, 2013 Hamden Police responded to a Morse Street residence on the report of a street robbery.
Investigation revealed that a 63 year-old resident was exiting her motor vehicle, when she was approached by Lynn Numan. Numan stated, “Give me the bags.” Numan then grabbed her shoulders and pushed her. He stole the victim’s purse, which contained money and credit cards.
Detective Brian Stewart conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Numan. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On February 15th Hamden Police arrested Numan, who was earlier detained by the New Haven Police Department. Numan was transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.
Numan, 50, of 125 Putnam Avenue, Apartment # 818, Hamden was charged with Robbery in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree on an Elderly Person and Larceny in the 2nd Degree. Numan, who was detained on a court-ordered $300,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on March 1st.
Investigators believe that Numan may have been living out of state for the past 5 years.
