On May 1, 2021, at approximately 9:20p.m. Hamden Police responded to Villano Park, 260 Mill Rock Road on the report of shots fired.
Shortly thereafter, Hamden Police learned that a 21-year-old New Haven resident was shot in Hamden and was being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The shooting victim was driven to the hospital by a friend.
Investigation revealed that the victim was playing basketball at Villano Park, when he heard a single gunshot and immediately started bleeding from his head. His injuries are described as “non-life threatening.”
Villano Park was “filled with people playing and onlookers.” After hearing the gunshot, the park “emptied out, with people running and fleeing in fear for their lives.”
