On March 9, 2021, at approximately 5:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Connolly Parkway on the report of a motor vehicle accident, involving three vehicles.
Investigation revealed that a 14-year-old New Haven resident was operating a stolen motor vehicle and was responsible for the crash. The vehicle was stolen in Derby on March 3rd.
The stolen vehicle, which sustained excessive damage, struck a tree after the initial crash. The three occupants, all 14 years of age, suffered serious injuries and were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The operator of the stolen vehicle was arrested and charged with Larceny in the 2nd Degree. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on March 26, 2021.
Officer Nicholas Lovett of the Hamden Police Department Traffic Division is continuing the investigation.
