On February 1, 2021 at approximately 2:15a.m. Hamden Police responded to Sams Food Store, 3394 Whitney Avenue on the report of a robbery.
Investigation revealed that an individual, described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, 5’7”, wearing dark clothing entered the store and asked to use the bathroom. He then proceeded behind the front counter and “grabbed” 5 packs of Newport cigarettes.
The clerk subsequently confronted the individual, who then displayed a large knife, while demanding money from the cash register. The clerk refused. The individual then “shoved” the clerk and exited the store. He was last observed in a vehicle, traveling southbound on Whitney Avenue.
