On October 17, 2020 at approximately 8:45p.m. Hamden Police responded to the 300 block of Goodrich Street on the report of “shots fired.” A concerned citizen reported that he had heard “10 shots.”
Upon arrival officers located 2 gunshot victims. John Ratliff, 28, of Hamden was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. A second victim, a 23 year-old Hamden resident, was shot in the arm. Hamden Fire Rescue responded and rendered medical assistance. Both victims were immediately transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Shortly thereafter, Ratliff was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
