On December 17, 2019 Officer Christina Giori observed a stolen motor vehicle traveling northbound on Dixwell Avenue. Officer Giori attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The operator of the vehicle failed to comply.
Moments later, Sergeant Jason Venditto observed the unoccupied stolen vehicle parked on Belmont Street. Sergeant Venditto and his K-9 partner “Knight” subsequently traveled through several yards in an attempt to locate the operator. Shortly thereafter, the 15-year-old operator of the stolen vehicle emerged and was promptly arrested by Officer Robert O’Neill. It appears that K-9 Knight “flushed” him out of hiding.
Hamden Police arrested a 15-year-old New Haven resident. He was charged with Larceny in the 2nd Degree and Interfering with a Police Officer. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on January 3, 2020.
