On December 18th Hamden Police responded to a Jesswig Drive residence on the report of harassment by telephone.

Investigation revealed that the resident received a “robocall”, where an automated voice claimed to be local police. The caller instructed the resident to wire a specific amount of money to avoid arrest.

Please remember that the Hamden Police Department will NEVER ask you to make a payment by wiring money. Using a money transfer service is similar to using cash. This is a SCAM. In addition, please be aware of scam artists that provide you with a fake account number or case number. These tactics are utilized to steal your hard earned money.
