On October 9, 2019 at approximately 1:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to an Adla Drive residence on the report of suspicious activity. Central Communications advised responding officers that a contractor that was working on the interior of the house observed a black male enter.

Investigation revealed that the male, who was later identified as Calvin Armstrong, entered the residence through the kitchen door. The 17 year-old resident was “cooking”, when Armstrong walked passed him and proceeded to an upstairs bedroom. The teen subsequently followed Armstrong and observed him “rummaging through the bedroom dresser drawers.” When the teen asked him to leave, Armstrong threatened to punch him in the face. Armstrong then fled on foot towards Howard Drive.

The 17 year-old resident and the contractor were initially under the belief that Armstrong was a contractor and that he was there to repair the television.

Moments later, Officer Darryl Cargill and Officer Edward Stoor located Armstrong walking on the sidewalk in the vicinity of Howard Drive. He was placed under arrest, after further investigation.

Hamden Police arrested Calvin Armstrong III, 42, of 61 Rentell Road, Hamden. He was charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Threatening in the 2nd Degree and Interfering with a Police Officer. Armstrong III, who was detained on a $5,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on October 23, 2019.
