4/10/2019 - 4/10/19– Arrest of Angel Vega – Robbery in the 3rd Degree

On April 7, 2019 at approximately 6:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to Save-A-Lot Food Store, 1125 Dixwell Avenue on the report of shoplifting.

Investigation revealed that Angel Vega attempted to exit the store with candy, valued at $200.00. The store manager subsequently confronted Vega. Vega attempted to “punch” and “bite” the store manager. Both Vega and the store manager fell to the ground during a physical struggle. Vega then fled on foot, southbound on Dixwell Avenue.

Moments later, Officer Paul Calamita arrested Vega in the vicinity of Dixwell Avenue. Vega, 48, of Grand Avenue, New Haven was charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree and Larceny in the 6th Degree. He was detained at police headquarters on a $10,000.00 bond. Vega is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 18th.
