On 02/17/22 at approximately 1:00 AM, Hamden Police Officers responded to a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Dixwell Social Lounge; 940 Dixwell Avenue. Officers located a stolen handgun and ballistic evidence at the crime scene.
A 34-year-old Hamden man suffered a gunshot wound to his foot from the shooting.
Detective Jomo Crawford, along with Detectives from the Hamden Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and New Haven Shooting Task Force, conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting.
On 07/26/22, Montrell Brewer, age 30 of New Haven, was arrested at Meriden Superior Court on an outstanding arrest warrant related to the shooting. He was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm and Carrying a Pistol without a Permit. Brewer was held on a $250,000.00 bond.
