The Hamden Police Department is proud to announce the 8th session of the “Citizen’s Police Academy.” The purpose of this endeavor is to provide local residents, business/property owners and college students with pertinent information, as it relates to the function and activities of the Hamden Police Department. The goal of this program is to increase public awareness and build community rapport through education and conversation. 

The Hamden Citizen’s Police Academy will cover a vast array of topics, including: patrol procedures, major crime investigations, crime scene techniques, crime prevention, ethics and integrity, use of force, cultural awareness and a police K-9 demonstration. 

Applications must be submitted to the Hamden Police Department, 2900 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, Connecticut 06518 no later than 4:00p.m. on September 10th. Applications can be obtained online on the Hamden Police Department web page or at various town buildings including, police headquarters, town hall and local libraries. Applications can be submitted in person, mailed or e-mailed to Captain Ronald Smith at rsmith@hamdenpd.com or Sergeant Brent Zuscin at bzuscin@hamdenpd.com. Classes will commence on Wednesday, September 12th at 6:30p.m. at the Hamden Police Department Training Division.
