On July 29, 2018 at approximately 2:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Benham Street on the report of shots fired.
Investigation revealed that a “heated exchange” occurred between Gary Hurse and 2 individuals. The dispute, which began in Bridgeport, continued in the parking lot of 660 Mix Avenue. Hurse then fired a gun multiple times at the individuals.
Moments later, Officer Jenisse Perez-Hernandez arrested Hurse. A subsequent search of his vehicle led to the discovery of 2 loaded firearms.
Hamden Police arrested Gary Hurse, 64, of 548 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven. He was charged with 2 counts of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, 2 counts of Threatening in the 1st Degree, Unlawful Restraint in the 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. Hurse, who was detained on a $25,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on August 13th.
