On May 26th at approximately 11:45p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street on the report of a shooting.

Moments later, officers located the victim, a 28 year-old New Haven resident, in the backyard of an Arch Street residence. The victim had been shot once in the leg. Hamden Fire Rescue rendered medical treatment. The victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of 938 Dixwell Avenue. Witnesses’ reported hearing “about 5 gunshots.” Several motor vehicles were struck by gunfire during the incident. The victim was uncooperative with police.
